5. Contracts, Grants and Work
b5The Home Energy Saving scheme provides grant aid to increase your roof and wall insulation. You can also add temperature controllers to your heating system, upgrade your boiler or fit renewable energy systems to your home.

Energy efficiency renovation might sounds simple but unlike common house repair work the process can be complicated and can often require a number of different trades and professions all working in your home at the same job.

Internal insulation, for example might require moving light switches,  moving wiring and plumbing, in addition to all the other skills necessary, such as dry lining plus painting and decorating. The Energy Smart Community seeks to minimise the disturbance of this work by bringing all the trades together in a "one-stop shop".

Through a detailed framework process the Energy Smart Community have identified some of the best contractors on the SEI approved contractor list to  tender for our jobs. Through this tender process we provide you with a "one-stop shop" contractor who can do all the work you require with the minimum of disturbance and to the highest quality.

Upon a successful tender each householder within the cluster will sign a standard, plain English contract with the winning contractor for the refurbishment work to begin on their home.
