Communities
There was a great turnout at our first Energy Information Evening organised in association with of the local Drumcondra residents group, the Iona & District Residents’ Association (IDRA). This cluster is now closed and a contractor has been selected to carry out works.

We would like to thank everyone who attended, especiailly IDRA for their huge support.

Codema's Energy Engineer, Joe Hayden, outlined the current energy standards of Dublin homes and explained how to reduce energy in the home.  Tom Halpin from SEI spoke about the government grants that are available to assist homeowners in improving their homes' energy performance.

Gavin Harte gave a presentation on the Energy Smart Community which allows homeowners to join together as a ‘cluster’ to improve their home’s energy performance.  Each homeowner who joins the cluster will increase the collective buying power of their community, while saving money and making their home warmer and more comfortable to live in.  As the Energy Smart Community is a not-for-profit scheme and completely independent of all contractors, its only interest is in looking out for the homeowner and getting the best price possible through a group tender process.Homeowners and communities can benefit from SEI’s energy-saving grants through the Energy Smart Community; the Home Energy Saving scheme provides grants to homeowners interested in improving the energy efficiency of their home, while the Greener Homes scheme provides grant aid for homeowners in need of a renewable heating or energy system for their home.
